Nicaraguan Construction Mission Trip Team II
Wesley United Methodist Church in Bloomington, Illinois, was led by God to begin adult mission trips in August of 2004.
The first adult mission team from Wesley UMC joined four churches from North Carolina and Pennsylvania in January of 2005, and journeyed on a Medical Mission Trip to Nicaragua. The team leader on that initial trip was Doctor Rick Vaughn. Ten members from Wesley joined twenty-five other members from the four other churches in this joint venture.
Now, six years later, Wesley UMC has sent six Medical Mission teams and five Construction Mission teams to Nicaragua. Wesley has been joined by a multitude of other churches of various Protestant and Catholic denominations in these ventures.
Team members have come from Illinois and across the country to venture together in serving God and the people of Nicaragua.
This year, 2011, there is a Medical Mission Team, and two Construction Mission teams journeying to Nicaragua.
The first Construction Mission team ventured to Nicaragua from January 15th to the 22nd. The Medical Mission team came on January 21st and will stay until Saturday, January 29th. Our team, the second Construction team arrived on January 22nd and will stay until Sunday, January 30th.
Prior Construction Mission teams have built an addition to the boy's house at Los Cedros; built a security fence around the boy's house at Los Cedros; and began the security fence around the Infant Orphanage Compound at Los Cedros.
The team this year will pick up where the first team left off, in the effort to enclose approximately twenty-two acres which comprise the Orphanage Compound at Los Cedros.
We hope and pray that you enjoy the posts from this team, as we answer the call of God by saying "Here I am Lord"! Please keep our team, and all the teams, in your prayers.
